Learning for Life has the backing of an increasing number of key employers and education professionals throughout South Yorkshire. Employers in the city are constantly on the look out for young people who are 'work ready' and Learning for Life helps schools and colleges to collaborate with businesses and services to ensure that young people are equipped with the skills that they will need to succeed in the workplace. Jonathan Crossley-Holland, Director of Education comments "The backing and co-operation of local businesses is vital to the continued success of the programme and a significant task within our marketing strategy is to create interest and awareness amongst businesses of the part they can play in delivering the skills revolution that the local economy needs, as well as making young people aware of the range of careers that could be available to them in the coming years." Mr Crossley-Holland concludes "We are organising a string of business breakfasts, supported by Richard Caborn and BBC Radio Sheffield, aimed at encouraging the support of key, local employers. These breakfasts have proved hugely popular and we have booked two more for September so there's plenty of opportunity for interested employers to get involved. Any business wishing to attract new employees should seriously consider the benefits that Learning for Life can offer." Richard Caborn, the MP for Sheffield Central is a firm supporter because the programme is proving successful in addressing the needs of Sheffield business. Additional information for employers will be provided soon. Contact Peter Joynson if you are an employer and interested in giving your support to the Learning for Life scheme.
