The Vocational Skills Programme is available at 3 levels:

Entry - A flexible programme dealing with the most challenging youngsters for between 2-5 days per week. (pre-GCSE equivalent)
Level 1 – Offsite vocational provision usually for one day a week with a range of different providers (D-G equivalent)
Level 2 – Offsite vocational provision usually for one day a week with a range of different providers (A*-C equivalent)Target groups: Y10 students who will obtain level 4 SATs in Y9 would be suitable for Level 1 WRL qualifications and students who obtain level 5 or above would be suitable for Level 2 WRL qualifications. The vast majority of courses are delivered on a single day. Those pupils who are working below Level 1 would be suitable for entry level courses within the VSP.

Referral process: All referrals onto the Vocational Skills Programme are managed by the Extended Curriculum Team, based at Howden House. The School will work with a placement officer from the Extended Curriculum Team to match students to placements.

Quality Assurance: All providers have contracted with the CYPD. Quality assurance visits in relation to Health and Safety, CRB checks and the curriculum have been established. Full results of observations are shared with schools on request.

VSP Programme Duration: 2 years, unless otherwise stated.

Support: Students must be able to cope without support in a college, work based learning or industrial environment.
